Description of Query in PMU-Database

Database Query

Fill in some search term into the left field. Start the query by clicking on the "Submit query" button or press 'Enter'. The maximum amount of terms is ten per query, minimum length per search term are two characters. Special characters and search terms with only one character will being ignorated.

Query is performed without upper / lower case distinction, and returns all terms matching the search terms as a whole or in part. E.g. the term "Uni" will return datasets containing the words "University" as well as datasets containing the word "universal".

Query for more than one search term will being performed as AND-linked; e.g. search terms "Water" and "Waste" will only return datasets containing both words at the same time.

Input of wildcards (e.g. "*", "%") is not necessary.

Refining your Query:

Queries can be refined in two ways.

By default query is performed in full text mode. It can be refined by limiting the fields to be searched via the pulldown menue on the right side to Reference No, Research Centre, Title of Collaborative Project, Title of Project, Abstract of Collaborative Project or Description of Project.

Searching for a maximum of 10 search terms at the same time will limit the results, because query is executed AND-linked.

Display of matches

Results are displayed in lists to 10 sets per page. Matches of search terms are displayed like this. Matches in descriptions of Collaborative Projects or Projects are displayed in a special line.

Those first level matches are linked to the complete description of project (follow link "Project"). If the project forms part of a collaborative project, the complete collaborative project with all abstracts will be displayed after following the link "Coll. Project".

On the second level search terms are highlighted, too. The link "Final Report" opens a new window, displaying query results for the Final Report of the specific project as available at the Technische Informationsbibliothek of the University of Hannover (TIB), the link beneath "PMU" opens a new window linked to the responsible Project Management Unit.
